Task Group Five - Cracks and Crack Control
Task Group Five will produce a comprehensive document on cracking and crack control in concrete structures that will provide a state-of-the-art guidance for both designers and builders.
The document will identify the various types of cracking, including cracking in the plastic concrete (plastic shrinkage and plastic settlement) and cracking in the hardened concrete (early-age thermal cracking, load induced cracking, restrained shrinkage cracking, bond splitting and spalling), and cover the causes and factors affecting each type of cracking, the design requirements and the most up-to-date approaches to control cracking and mitigate the adverse effects of cracking.
