Task Group One - Durability Planning
There are many aspects to durability that will only be provided if they form part of the clients specification for the project. If left to the D&C contractor durability may be provided but possibly not at the lost cost. In some case maintenance costs may be astronomic in others the client may face rapid depreciation in the assets value.
Task Group One will provide a guidance publication on planning to achieve durability in reinforced concrete structures. The publication will be targeted at owners and designers with guidance on how to set up design, construction and maintenance contract requirements so that structures meet their serviceability requirements over the design life at the minimum cost.
The aim of the document will be to consider the current design guides and codes and provide an over view on their limitations and uses to give an approach on how to use them in design of structures in Australia. It will also endeavour to fill gaps in the existing design procedures by reference to published papers.
