fib Objectives The International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib - fédération internationale du béton) is a non-profit organisation created in 1998 from the merger of the Euro-International Concrete Committee (CEB - Comité Euro-International du Béton) and the International Federation for Prestressing (FIP - Fédération Internationale de la Précontrainte). The objectives of fib are to develop at an international level the study of scientific and practical matters capable of advancing the technical, economic, aesthetic and environmental performance of concrete construction. In many respects this is not dissimilar to the way that the CIA operates. The advantage of fib is that it draws on the expertise of leading research and best practice from all over the world. fib in Australia Some Australians who are familiar with fib and recognise the advanced technical information that can be obtained have joined fib as individual members. CIA was a national member until 2009 but this has been superseded by the Australian National Member Group (NMG).
The NMG is essentially the Australian branch of fib. Members are companies and individuals. Each member has the right to nominate one person to the Australian NMG committee.
