The NSW Branch of the Concrete Institute of Australia invites you to the 2019 NSW Excellence in Concrete Awards function. 

Established in 1971, the Awards for Excellence in Concrete recognise and publicise the many significant contributions to excellence in concrete design, construction and materials in Australia.

Our NSW Branch is pleased to announce our guest speaker Dr Andy Davids, who will present on the Art and Science of designing and building the tallest buildings in the world

The Art and Science of Designing and Building the Tallest Buildings in the World


Andy has been responsible for many Super Tall projects undertaken in the Middle East and around the world. These include the beautiful 355m tall Emirates Towers in Dubai and the 400m tall CMA HQ Tower in Riyadh. He was Director of Design for the 828m Burj Khalifa, which is the current tallest building in the world, and is currently collaborating with the celebrated Designers Santiago Calatrava and Jean Nouvel on the next generation of Global Super-Tall projects. These including a Tower in the Gulf currently under construction which will be the tallest manmade object on earth.
 
An Australian Engineer by training and passion he holds a PhD in Engineering and has served as an Adjunct Chair in Architecture at the University of Sydney, and collaborated on several International Code Committees. He received the RW Chapman medal and Engineering Excellence Award from the Institution of Engineers for his work.

Andy has spent the last 20 years living overseas and has recently returned to Sydney with his family to continue that global journey with some of the most celebrated Architects in the world.
