Overview

The 2019 Hot Topics event in Melbourne could not come at a more interesting time in the concrete construction market as codes change, infrastructure projects proliferate with new materials and practices pushing the industry to its limits.

We are privileged to welcome Prof. Stephen Foster to present and share his insights from his investigation and reporting of the recent Opal Tower issues. A robust Q&A session will follow Stephen’s presentation which promises to be as vibrant and passionate as we’ve come to admire from this format. Stephen will be one of the panellists alongside Chris Jaques, one of our industry’s best minds.

Other topics to be explored in this session include –
  • changes to AS3850 Prefabricated Concrete Elements
  • the recent release of the revised AS3600 Concrete Structures (including new details on the design of SFRC)
  • AS5100; and
  • the proliferation of high rise construction and prefabricated concrete buildings in Melbourne.
Be ready to discuss the questions that really need to be asked and answered!

Come along to ask your burning questions and be part of the discussion. Questions are welcome prior to the event at [email protected]  or send via our social media channels with the subject heading ‘Hot Topics Question’.
