Innovation and Best practices in design and construction
Our speakers will provide information on recent and current projects under construction in SEQ and elsewhere in Australia, with an emphasis on the design, construction and materials. The presenters will provide details on current innovation in this sector, as well as draw on recent overseas accidents to emphasise the importance of best practices. The seminar will be of interest and benefit all levels of participants in the construction industry.

Recent bridges failures and the evolution of bridge engineering - some insights to help keep us credible.

An overview of the InQuik system comprising lightweight, preassembled bridge structure components (decks, abutments, wing walls and headstocks/bladepiers)

During this session we will also highlight design considerations, foundation and piling types supported and materials required (including products like fast set concrete to reduce road closure time for Bridge installations in Road and Rail applications) lastly details on the  “place and pour” installation method which takes 2-3 days over a 2 week project timeline.
 
InQuik manufacturing is based out of Eagle Farm, QLD and Newcastle, NSW. The products are made using Australian steel, and they're certified by SMEC to comply with AS5100 (2017) Bridge Design code, with T44 (68 tonne) and SM1600 load ratings available.

Gateway Upgrade North (GUN) project and
Pacific Motorway upgrade: M1/M3/Gateway merge project

Warren Crowther and Darren Wagstaff - Lendlease


Warren will present an overview of the GUN project and the bridge works undertaken on GUN including bridge widenings, deconstruction and construction.  His presentation will include details of the Deagon Deviation overpass as well as removal, replacement and testing of transversely stressed bars on the Sandgate Road bridge.

Darren will provide an overview of the Pacific Motorway upgrade: M1/M3/Gateway merge project which will include the progress of the Underwood Road overpass design and construction challenges.  He will provide details on the use of technology including BIM, Point Cloud and AR.
