Overview

Post-tensioning and Precast solutions are both widely used throughout the industry offering a cost-effective method of enhancing the performance and strength of concrete structures and greatly reduce construction time on site. Whilst It has many uses and applications from the construction of buildings, bridges and water retaining structures; tonight we will be focusing on the current trends in the design of floor structures and the changing applications in use of precast technology that is driving a revolution in structure use and application.

Phil Surridge, Business Development Manager, BGC  Precast

Phil is a qualified Civil Engineer and also holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Cape Town. Have founded his career in a large diversified Sth African construction company where he was promoted through to the divisional director position. Phil left this role to become an owner in a fledgling precast company which grew to be the market leader over the 26 years at the helm.

 

He has extensive experience in the precast industry and has been the recipient of multiple awards in concrete technology over the past 18 years. Phil currently works for BGC Precast as their Business Development Manager.


Alex Briscan, Design Engineer, PARKD Ltd
 
Alex is a Structural Engineer and works as a designer and project coordinator for PARKD Ltd. He has been instrumental in the research and development of the PARKD Car Park System by improving on precast design, manufacturing and testing.
His role also involves the coordination of consultants and supply chain partners on several projects nationally.
 
            
PARKD Ltd was founded in 2016 on the back of a precast structural solution that solved the problem of car park construction by greatly improving the speed and cost of construction whilst also offering the unique option to relocate or reuse the structure in another location.
Alex will be presenting the PARKD Car Park System, currently the only modular car parking structure offered in the Australian market and the only reusable concrete car park in the world.
He will be offering an insight into the structural philosophy and design of the system along with a case study of a project in Victoria Park.
 
 
Andrew Ritchie, Construction Manager, Central Construction Services Group
 
Andrew holds a Bachelor in Civil and Construction Engineering from Curtin University and is currently the General Manager [Construction] at the Central Construction Services Group (CCSG) which delivers multidisciplinary specialist subcontracting service; namely post tensioning D&C, reinforcement D&C and structural remediation (carbon fibre strengthening) services nationally.
 
Leading to this role, Andrew has worked in senior positions for the largest post tensioning specialist subcontractors globally and has a wealth of experience through all aspects of the design and construction process from the supply chain to management of labour and design solutions.
 
Andrew will be presenting recent post tensioning projects from around Perth including Karrinyup Shopping Centre, the Ritz Carlton at Elizabeth Quay and Mandurah Forum Shopping Centre Redevelopment. He will be providing an insight into the efficient construction of post tensioned structures and the benefits in early contractor involvement to drive efficient structural design.
