A site visit to the Liberty Steel (Sydney Steel Mill) offers the opportunity to see a state of the art steel manufacturing operation and hear about key focus areas such as:
  • Liberty Steel's core values of safety and meeting their promise to customers.
  • Environmental efforts to reduce energy and waste. Sydney Steel Mill uses a process of Polymer Injection Technology – a process which partially substitutes the use of coke with polymers, including rubber, as an alternate carbon injectant to product foaming slag in EAF steelmaking.
  • Production of a diverse product range supplying markets including steel in concrete, mining, automotive and engineering applications.

The tour will commence promptly at 2.00pm.  Please arrive by 1.45pm to allow sufficient time for registration prior to commencement.  Late comers will not be able to catch up to the tour.

Site Agenda:
  • There is a maximum of 50 attendees
  • There will be a site safety induction on arrival
  • Attendees will be split into 2 groups of 25
  • One group will listen to a site presentation then proceed on the mill tour
  • The second will commence the mill tour first followed by the presentation
  • Site tour groups will be further split into 2 groups of 12 people one commencing in the melt shop the other in the rolling mill.

Safety Requirements:
Attendees must wear the following to enter this site:
  • Long sleeve shirts
  • Long pants
  • Enclosed shoes
Liberty Steel will provide:
  • Safety helmets
  • Safety glasses
  • High visibility vests

Site entry/parking.
  • Please drive up to the security gate at 22 Kellogg Road Rooty Hill NSW and advise that you have registered for the Sydney Steel Mill Site Visit.
  • Your name/company will be provided to OneSteel to allow access.
  • Park in the designated parking bays in the administration car park (adhering to speed limits) or as directed by the security staff.
  • Proceed to reception and register with the CIA/SRIA contact.
NO Photography is permitted on site (this includes mobile phone images).
