Overview

Early age cracking, including unplanned random cracking, is of major concern for Engineers, Designers, Specifiers, Concrete Suppliers, Concrete Finishers, Concrete Cutters, Contractors and Property Owners. This Seminar addresses some of the issues involved and will discuss suggestions as to how such cracking can be effectively controlled.

Predicting and preventing unplanned random cracks
Peter will start the seminar with a presentation on overview of unplanned random cracks, their mechanisms and common measures to effectively control them.

Tony’s presentation would focus on specification/mix designs & supply aspects in the context of random and early-age cracking.

My headstock thermal differential went over 25 oC and it didn’t crack, what’s going on?
Greg’s presentation will cover thermal deformation, autogenous and drying shrinkage, restraint, and the impact of mix/materials on why predictions of thermal cracking are problematic, also can bring in the new CIRIA 766 (replacing C660) and some of the CIA durability work with regard to determining crack widths.
