Academic Institution Membership

Membership is specifically designed for academic institutions such as Universities, Institutes of Technology, Institutes of Advanced Education and Technical College Institutes.  It is designed to provide benefits to the academic institution as well as their staff as nominated Representative Members.
Academic Members are entitled to benefits including:
  • The nomination of Representative Members (includes academic, research  and administrative staff)
  • Voting Rights (via the Principal Representative Member)
  • Acknowledgement in the Concrete in Australia magazine
  • Discounted seminar fees for all nominated staff
  • Discounted conference registration fees for all nominated staff
  • Discounts on the purchase of hard copy publications
  • Discounts on State Branch Sponsorship
  • Ability for students to take out Free Student Membership

In addition academic, research and administrative staff in the disciplines of civil/structural engineering, architecture, building, science and construction management are entitled to be nominated as Representative Members under the Academic Membership.  

Representative Members are entitled to benefits including:
  • Complimentary "Members Only" downloads of CIA Technical Documents
  • Complimentary "Members Only" downloads of fib Technical Documents
  • Access to our Online "Members Only" Resource Centre including CIA Conference Proceedings
  • Access to the Institute's Mentoring Program
  • Four copies of the industry recognised Concrete in Australia magazine each year in hard copy and online access to archived copies
  • Discounts on education and seminar programs and Institute conferences
  • Ability to contribute to the Institute's project committees and Australian Standards Committees
  • Ability to make a difference by serving on State Committees and the National Council

Students (both undergraduate and post graduate) cannot be nominated as Representative Members however the Institute also offers free Student Membership which provides access to many of the benefits available to Academic Representative Members.
