Property developers in the ACT have been challenged by the territory government’s minister for climate change and sustainability to build the first ‘net zero’ emissions commercial or large scale residential building.

The University of Sydney has asked engineering alumnus Ken Wheeler how he overcame the challenges in creating Sydney’s Anzac Bridge with its 345-metre span and 120-metre tall diamond-shaped pylons.

A New York-based architecture firm has designed a housing proposal that can survive 1.8 metres of sea level rise with a complex made of 19 cylindrical apartment towers ranging 96 to 455 feet high. The proposal is for Manhattan’s Pier 40 which extends 250 metres over the Hudson River.
