An innovative hybrid fiberglass-concrete-steel bridge construction technique created by engineers at The University of Queensland engineers can reduce major urban bridgeworks’ projects from months or years down to a matter of days, according to the team.

Georgiou Group has announced the appointment of a new CEO, effective from August this year, who will take over from CEO John Georgiou. The company has also revealed changes to the board along with internal promotions.

Queensland engineering firm Fibercon has developed a technology that enables it to use recycled polypropylene plastic to reinforce concrete instead of steel.

The construction of a bank in Jordan has included the use of Lucem Lichtbeton, a type of concrete with translucent properties, for the first time worldwide. When backlit with LEDs or under sunlight, the concrete panels present a “stunning display of light and shadow”.
