Overview

Although the SCC as a material will cost slightly more than conventional concrete, significant costs savings can be realised through the whole concreting process including giving consideration to SCC at the detailed design stage of a project. The quantity of admixtures used is only a fraction of the total volume of the mix ingredients, but they can play a crucial & significant role in the performance of SCC in its plastic and hardened states. 
 
About this Presentation

Although SCC is not expected to ever completely replace conventionally vibrated concrete, the use of the material in both the precast and ready-mix markets in the Australia, Europe and the rest of the world is expected to continue to increase as the experience and technology improves.

The presentation will cover a comparative assessment of SCC durability performance versus conventional concrete in precast application and AS 5100 reinforcement cover requirement.

Having trained and specialised in the fields of cement chemistry and construction chemicals in the USA & Germany, he has been involved in the business in several countries for over 30 years. 
Bruno has worked on major projects such as the Shanghai Tower, Port Botany Expansion, Cotter Dam and presented at international conferences. He is a member of the Concrete Institute of Australia and holds a Master’s degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of New South Wales.
